Stan is interested in a broad range of issues in epistemology, theory of meaning, ethics and aesthetics. He’s currently convinced that disagreements over matters of gustatory taste are quite a bit more substantive than most people seem to think, and he is trying to make something of this conviction in a dissertation.
Outside of academia, Stan enjoys reading Wittgenstein and food writing; rock climbing in a careless, top-rope-up-plastic-rock kind of way; tinkering with, and sometimes even fixing, old motorcycles and mopeds; and insisting that the Berkeley philosophy grad students eat better by abiding by his urgent, unsolicited restaurant recommendations.
