I will present recent work with Anand Pillay on the structure of finite approximate groups satisfying a local NIP assumption. Our results can be seen as a unification of work of Breuillard, Green, and Tao on the structure theory of approximate groups, and the model-theoretic study of “tame” arithmetic regularity.
