In my 2017 book Making Things Up, I characterize a family of relations that I call ‘building relations’. I argue that these relations share various features, and are centrally linked to absolute and relative fundamentality. I also argue that causation is one of them. In this talk, I address a few objections to that claim. These raise issues I take to be independently interesting, notably about i) indeterministic causation, ii) relative fundamentality, and iii) revisionary theories in general.
